Sleepless nights led Al Jagger to create what's stored inside his garage.
"We just felt it was time for somebody... and at my age. At 86, I don't have much longer to do anything," Jagger said.
Frustrated that Christmas had become too commercial, and society had forgotten its true meaning, Jagger led a group of friends to create some simple yard signs. They read: "Christmas. Jesus. Celebrate his birth."
"I haven't had one adverse opinion that I'm aware of," Jagger said of reaction to his signs.
He'd only planned on making a few thousand signs for distribution in town. Before he got --what some would say--was a call from God.
"You wanna take 250 signs to your church this morning, I see," he said, talking on his cell phone to a sign orderer on the other-end.
Al's now filling orders from residents, local churches, and Christian bookstores. So many requests, his signs are on back-order.
"It's been escalating. Its sort of the snowball effect. The more people see them in people's yards, they come in asking if we have them," Shannon Hicks, the owner of Testimonies Christian Bookstore, said.
"I think Jesus has been left out of Christmas for too many years, and it seems to be getting worse. And so this is an opportunity to have a sign in our yard, that this is what we are celebrating, really means a lot to us," Ardys Mitchell, said. She has one of Jagger's signs in her yard.
Jagger is over-whelmed with the signs popularity. "Way beyond what I expected," he said.
Hicks wonders what Jagger will do if the signs reach national popularity. Jagger doesn't know. But some suspect he'll have help when the time comes.
"The Lord will help him though. He'll know what to do at the time," Hicks said.
