You saw them around at Christmas--hundreds of beige-colored lawn signs with
the simplest of messages: "Christmas, Jesus, Celebrate His Birth." The
signs were the brainchild of retired Eugene insurance agent Al Jagger.
Tired of seeing the real message of Christmas buried under materialism,
Jagger and a few friends decided to counter it with a simple corrugated
plastic lawn sign. Jagger's original goal was to blanket Eugene. 12,000 of
them were placed in local lawns, with the signs going farther a field all
the time. As of last week, over 8,000 of the Easter signs have already
been distributed.
